Many friends ask me what they should do, but most don’t understand that this is not a new discussion. Long story short:
Two or three years ago, the old CIOs left WhatsApp after Facebook planned to merge the accounts and sell the user data.
In the first attempt, the EU prohibited it, because the approval for the sale of WhatsApp was conditional on keeping the data separate.
So now, after five years, Facebook could make money from this deal for the first time.
So if we go back to the beginning of the story. If I were to decide in terms of my job, switch to Signal, Threema or another non-commercial app, but if I were to decide personally, go where your most friends are.
